To apply, you must: be at least 15 years and 9 months old, read a number plate from 20 metres away, have lived in the UK for at least 185 days in the past 12 months, and find a local instructor for driving lessons

what documents
You’ll need an identity document, like your passport, and addresses from the last 3 years. You may also be asked for extra details, such as your National Insurance number if available. After applying online, DVLA will send a confirmation email. Your licence should arrive within a week, though checks may delay it. To get ready, study for your theory test, book driving lessons, and find a local instructor
